Dwarf Planet (134340) Pluto: 12 July 2015

While the Nasa spacecraft New Horizon is almost at its minimum distance from Pluto (expected for tomorrow, 14 July), last night at Virtual Telescope we imaged this cold and far dwarf planet.

The image above comes from a single, 60-seconds exposure, unfiltered, remotely collected with the PlaneWave 17″+Paramount ME+SBIG STL-6303E robotic unit part of the Virtual Telescope Project. Pluto is in the center, marked by two white lines.
