Supernova PSN J14432601+5725412 in PGC 052589: an image (13 June 2015)
The supernova PSN J14432601+5725412 in PGC 052589 was imaged as part of the Virtual Telescope’s supernova follow-up program.
The image above comes from the average of four, 180-seconds exposures, unfiltered, remotely collected with the PlaneWave 17″+Paramount ME+SBIG STL-6303E robotic unit part of the Virtual Telescope Project. The supernova was estimated at mag. 19.1 (R mags for the reference stars from UCAC-4). The source is marked by two small segments. Spectroscopy shows it is a type Ia supernova.
