The spiral galaxies NGC 7537 and NGC 7541 – Psc

NGC 7537 and NGC 7541 (=NGC 7581) make a nice pair up there, lurking among the faint stars of Pisces, the Zodiacal Fish. We captured a nice image, find it below.

Spiral galaxies NGC 7537 and NGC 7541.

Spiral galaxies NGC 7537 and NGC 7541.

The image above comes from the average of ten, 300-seconds exposures, remotely collected with the “Elena” (PlaneWave 17″+Paramount ME+SBIG STL-6303E) robotic unit available at Virtual Telescope. Exposures were unguided.

The larger galaxy is NGC 7541 (aka NGC 7581): it is a spiral galaxy, placed at 103.7 millions of light years, while on its upper right we can see NGC 7537, a barred spiral galaxy. The couple shows signs of interactions and was discovered by W. Herschel on 1785.

All around, you can see many smaller galaxies, making the vision even more breathtaking.
