Supernova SN 2021skn in MCG +07-34-019 galaxy: an image – 29 Aug. 2021.
We observed supernova SN 2021skn in the MCG +07-34-019 barred spiral galaxy, as part of our supernova follow-up program: here it is our image.

The image above comes from the average of five, 120-second exposures, unfiltered, remotely taken with the “Elena” (PlaneWave 17″+Paramount ME+SBIG STL-6303E) robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project. The supernova is indicated by an arrow in the upper left inset. Many other faint galaxies are also visible.
The host is MCG +07-34-019, a barred spiral galaxy located at about 400 millions of light years from us. As for the supernova, we estimated SN 2021skn as bright as mag. 18.1 (unfiltered, R-mags for the reference stars from the Gaia DR2 star catalogue). This transient was discovered on 7 July 2021 by the ATLAS survey and it is a type II supernova.
Further observations will follow, weather permitting.
