Comet C/2022 E3 ZTF: a new image – 1 Sept. 2022.
We continue monitoring comet C/2022 E3 ZTF as it slowly approaches its perihelion: here it is our new image.
The image above comes from the average of seventeen, 180-second exposures, unfiltered, remotely collected with the “Elena” (PlaneWave 17″+Paramount ME+SBIG STL-6303E) robotic unit available at the Virtual Telescope Project. The telescope tracked the apparent motion of comet C/2022 E3 ZTF, this is why stars left long trails on the background. The image was processed to show both the bright region and the dusty tail at their best. The sky was quite clear and a satellite crossed the field of view during the imaging session.
There are chances to see this comet by naked eye early next year, let’s see how it will evolve.
