Supernova SN 2022prr in NGC 6745 galaxy: a image – 20 Aug. 2022.
We observed the supernova SN 2022prr in the beautiful galaxy NGC 6745, as part of our supernova follow-up program: here it is our image.

The image above comes from the average of ten, 180-second exposures, unfiltered, remotely taken with the “Elena” (PlaneWave 17″+Paramount ME+SBIG STL-6303E) robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project. The supernova is indicated by an arrow in the upper left inset.
The host galaxy is NGC 6745, but it actually is a trio of colliding galaxies, located at about 200 millions of light years and resembling a bird’s head. As for the supernova, we estimated SN 2022prr as bright as mag. 15.3 (unfiltered, R-mags for the reference stars from the Gaia DR2 star catalogue). This transient was discovered on 27 July 2022 by ZTF survey and it is a type IIn supernova.
