Supernova SN 2024btj in the NGC 3780 galaxy: 14 Mar. 2024.
The image above comes from the average of three, 180-second exposures, unfiltered and unguided, remotely taken with the C14+Paramount ME+ST8-XME robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project facility in Manciano, Italy. Hazy sky.
We estimated SN 2024btl as bright as mag. 16.4 (unfiltered, R-mags for the reference stars from the Gaia DR2 star catalogue). It was discovered on 5 Feb. 2024 and it is a type II supernova.
NGC 3780, the host galaxy, is a beautiful spiral galaxy, placed at about 100 million of light years from the Earth.
