Supernova SN 2024admc in the UGC 1778 galaxy: an image – 28 Jan. 2025.
We imaged supernova SN 2024admc in the spiral galaxy UGC 1778, see our image below.
The image above comes from the average of 6, 120-second, unguided exposures, unfiltered, remotely taken with the “Elena” (PlaneWave 17″ + Paramount MEII + SBIG STL-6303E) robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project in Manciano, Italy. The supernova is indicated by an arrow in the upper left insert.
We estimated SN 2024admc as bright as mag. 17.5 (R-mags for the reference stars from the Gaia DR2 star catalogue). SN 2024admc was discovered on 6 Dec. 2024 and it is a type Ib-c supernova.
The host galaxy is UGC 1778, an face-on spiral galaxy: it is located at about 200 million light years from us.
