Interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS (aka C/2025 N1 ATLAS): a new image with tail – 10 Nov. 2025.

While observing conditions improve, we spotted again the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS (C/2025 N1 ATLAS), detecting the complex signature of its ion tail.

The image above comes from the sigma-clipping combination of 14, 120-second exposures, remotely taken with the ARTEC250+Paramount ME+C3Pro61000EC robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project facility in Manciano, Italy. The comet was 12 deg. above the easter horizon, with a bright (phase: 71%) Moon at about 85 degrees from it.

Despite that, we clearly detected the ion tail of 3I/ATLAS, thanks to the evolving geometry. Now that the comet is moving into the morning sky, its tail – which was behind the nucleus as seen from the Earth at perihelion, so difficult to see in the past days – is better and better visible.

We will continue to monitor this exceptional object. See all our images of 3I/ATLAS here!
