Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks: a new image – 13 Oct. 2023
We observed comet 12P/Pons-Brooks again, to track its evolution after its 5 Oct. bright outburst. As with the July one, the coma expanded significantly.
The image above comes from the median combination of 31, 180-second unfiltered exposures, plus some additional processing and were remotely taken with the Celestron C14+Paramount ME+SBIG ST8-XME robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project facility in Manciano, Italy. Images were collected during the astronomical twilight, under good seeing conditions. The coma is clearly larger than on 8 Oct., but with similar features.
We will continue monitoring comet 12P/Pons-Brooks over the next weeks.
