Near-Earth Asteroids 2024 JR1 and 2024 JD very close encountes: online observation – 6 May 2024

Between 7 and 8 May 2024, the near-Earth asteroids 2024 JR1 and 2024 JD will have each a very close, but safe, encounter with us, coming at about 295000 and 275000 km from the Earth, respectively. The Virtual Telescope Project will show them to you live!

The near-Earth asteroid 2024 JR1 was discovered on 4 May 2024. Its diameter is estimated in the 7.6-17 meters range, while the minimum distance will be reached on 7 May, at 00.04 UTC (source: Nasa/JPL).

The near-Earth asteroid 2024 JD was discovered on 1 May 2024. Its diameter is estimated in the 8.2-18 meters range, while the minimum distance will be reached on 8 May, at 13:34 UTC (source: Nasa/JPL).

Of course, there are no risks at all for our planet in both cases.
