The image above comes from the average of ten, 120-second exposures, unfiltered and unguided, remotely taken with the C14+Paramount ME+ST8-XME robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project facility in Manciano, Italy. Very bright (full) Moon high in the sky.

We estimated SN 2024iss as bright as mag. 12.8 (unfiltered, R-mags for the reference stars from the Gaia DR2 star catalogue). It is a type II supernova, found early in its explosion.

We will track this transient as long as possible.
