Interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS (aka C/2025 N1 ATLAS): a new image – 6 Nov. 2025.
We observed again the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS, after its recent conjunction with the Sun. Its coma is clearly visible, despite the extreme observing conditions.
The image above comes from the average of six, 60-second unfiltered exposures, remotely taken with the Celestron C14+Paramount ME+SBIG ST-10XME robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project in Manciano, Italy. An extremely bright (almost full) Moon was setting, with the target just 10 degrees above the easter horizon, during the astronomical twilight (Sun at -12.2 deg. below the horizon).
The coma of 3I/ATLAS, a strong evidence of its cometary nature, is obvious.
We will continue our observations as long as possible, also sharing live images of 3I/ATLAS during a special live feed, on 17 Nov. 2025.
