After several days of bad weather, we were finally able to capture the Orion “Integrity” spacecraft of ARTEMIS II on its journey to the Moon, carrying the four astronauts who, for the first time in over half a century, are heading toward our natural satellite.

Watching that bright point glide across the stars in the background, knowing that it carries four representatives of humanity, was one of the most powerful emotions we have experienced in recent years.

At the time the image was taken, using one of the robotic telescopes of The Virtual Telescope Project located in Manciano (GR), under the darkest skies in mainland Italy, the spacecraft was approximately 217,000 km from the center of the Earth.
