Supernova SN 2022mxv in NGC 7769 spiral galaxy: a image – 31 July 2022.
We observed the supernova SN 2022mvx in the beautiful spiral galaxy NGC 7769, as part of our supernova follow-up program: here it is our image.

The image above comes from the average of seven, 120-second exposures, unfiltered, remotely taken with the “Elena” (PlaneWave 17″+Paramount ME+SBIG STL-6303E) robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project. The supernova is indicated by an arrow in the upper left inset.
The host galaxy is NGC 7769, a very beautiful spiral galaxy located at about 250 millions of light years. As for the supernova, we estimated SN 2022mvx as bright as mag. 15.5 (unfiltered, R-mags for the reference stars from the Gaia DR2 star catalogue). This transient was discovered on 18 June 2022 by Atlas survey and it is a type II supernova. Moving a bit on the bottom right, the barred spiral galaxy NGC 7771 is also visible: the two objects, with other fainter ones, are clearly interacting.
