The stunning 3 Jan. 2025 Moon – Venus conjuntion.
On 3 Jan. 2025, the Moon had a wonderful conjunction with Venus: the two brightest objects of the night sky were shining within a couple of degrees, offering a breathtaking view.

The image above comes from the average of three 0.5-second exposures, remotely taken with the Samyang 135+Paramount ME+ZWO ASI 6200MC Pro robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project facility in Manciano, Italy.
The sharp Moon crescent shows the so-called “earthshine”: the nightly part of the Moon is barely visibile because of the solar light the Earth is reflecting to its satellite. While the Moon is just a very thin crescent, the Earth is almost full in its sky, hence the light mitigating the lunar night.
