Comet 220P/McNaught: an image – 16 Aug. 2026.

We spotted comet 220P/McNaught, after its recent 5 August outburst: here is it our picture.

The image above comes from the sigma-clipping combination of 10, 120-second exposures, remotely taken with the ARTEC250+Paramount ME+C3Pro61000EC robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project facility in Manciano, Italy, under the darkest skies of the Italian peninsula.

Comet 220P was found in bright outburst on 5 August. 2026, after a previous, similar episode at the end of May. We will keep an eye on this nice target over the next weeks.
