Nova Tau 2026 (TCP J05210763+2338194): a classic nova – 16 Aug. 2026.

We did follow-up observations of Nova Tau 2026 (TCP J052 10763+2338194) which has been discovered on last 6 August. Our image and related photometry is below.

The image above comes from a single 120-second, R-filtered exposure, remotely taken with the “Elena” (PlaneWave 17″ + Paramount MEII + SBIG STL-6303E)  robotic unit  available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project and installed in Manciano, Italy.

Nova Tau 2026 is clearly visible in the center, marked with a white arrow and we estimated it at R=8.9 (R-mags for the reference stars from the Gaia DR2 star catalogue).

We will keep an eye on this nova for the next weeks.
