All-Sky live camera: final tests successful
We recently installed for testing an all-sky camera at the Virtual Telescope site, with the intention to monitor the sky both for clouds and meteors/fireballs. Fist tests were very promising and last night we managed to refine a few choices and see how the whole stuff worked. As far as we can see, it was an amazing success.
Likely, at the evening’s twilight, the system captured a meteor, see the image above, coming from 60 seconds of integration.
Below is a full time-lapse, from evening to morning twilight: each image is a 60 seconds exposure and several airplanes and satellites were recorded.
I wish to thank Giuliano Monti at Tecnosky for making this ZWO ASI120MM unit available for tests.
The next step will be the installation of the camera under a small, transparent dome, to have it working all day/night, for a complete coverage of everything happening above the Virtual Telescope.
