WZ Cassiopeiae

Here it is a superb red star, imaged by Gianluca Masi. He did find it by chance, while randomly surfing the skies.

As you can see, it is part of a superb double star, with a white-blue companion. The red one, is WZ Cas, a variable, carbon star.

This image was captured with the Celestron C14″, part of the Virtual Telescope Project, with a set of color filters. The OTA in installed on a Paramount ME mount, by Software Bisque. The CCD camera is a SBIG ST8-XME. The image scale is of 0.62″/pixel.
