Supernova SN 2017eaw in NGC 6946: online observing session (16 June 2017)

Last month, the bright supernova SN 2017eaw was discovered in the wonderful spiral galaxy NGC 6946, nicknamed “Fireworks”,  holding the record of supernova explosions: ten events in exactly 100 years. Next 16 June, starting at 09:30 UT, we will show this stunning explosion live, online, for free!

For this live experience we will use the amazing telescope we have in exclusive use in Arizona. With this real-time, cosmic journey we officially present our partnership with Tenagra Observatories, kindly making available its venerable 16″ robotic unit to the Virtual Telescope on exclusive basis. This is the beginning of an epic new adventure, bringing the Cosmos to the world as never seen before.

The online, free session is scheduled for 16 Jun 2017, staring at 09:30 UT.
