Potentially Hazardous Asteroid 2008 OS7 close encounter: online observation – 2 Feb. 2024

Next 2 Feb. 2024, the potentially hazardous asteroid 2008 OS7 will have a close and obviously safe encounter with us, coming at about 2.8 million of km from the Earth, 7.4 times the average lunar distance. The Virtual Telescope Project will show it to you live!

The potentially hazardous asteroid 2008 OS7 was discovered on 30 July 2008 by the Catalina Sky Survey. Its diameter is estimated in the 210 – 480 meters range, while the minimum distance will be reached on 2 Feb., at 14:41 UTC (source: Nasa/JPL). Of course, there are no risks at all for our planet.

The Virtual Telescope Project will show it live, online, soon after its fly-by with the Earth. This way, you can have a look from the comfort of your home.
