Comet 13P/Olbers: a new image – 5 Sept. 2024
We imaged comet 13P/Olbers one month after our last visit. While it is significantly fainter, it still is a beautiful object.
The image above comes from the sigma clipping combination of 18, 120-second unfiltered exposures, taken with the ARTEC250+Paramount ME+C3Pro61000EC robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project facility in Manciano, Italy. The telescope tracked the object while imaging.
Comet 13P/Olbers was at 20 deg. above the western horizon, in the sunset twilight. The object faded significantly, but it stil is a very beautiful and interesting comet.
