On 8 Sept. 2012 the robotic Planewave 17″ unit part of the Virtual Telescope was remotely used to capture the movie above of asteroid 2012 QG42, while approaching our planet. The Paramount ME mount was asked to track the apparent motion of the object, so stars appear to run all around. From time to time, some artificial satellites are also visible.

Don’t miss our live observing session of this asteroid next 13 Sept.!
