Ciao Piero, appena ho appreso che sei partito lungo un’altra orbita, ho pensato di “acciuffarti” tra gli asteroidi.

Ricercare tra quei preziosi “sassi” personaggi e nomi illustri, per poi riprenderli al telescopio, mi è sempre piaciuto, per sentirli un po’ più vicini. E allora ecco l’asteroide (7197) Pieroangela, scoperto da Maura Tombelli e Andrea Boattini il 16 gennaio 1994 da Cima Ekar e dedicato a te.
Non è stato facile vederti: la Luna quasi piena spande la sua luce abbagliante dal tuo stesso angolo di cielo, stanotte, ma non poteva offuscare il tuo pianetino. Dinanzi a chi le ha amate e narrate come nessun altro, le meraviglie della natura sanno quando inchinarsi.

Named in honor of Piero Angela (b. 1928). A journalist and science writer, he has created hundreds of science programs for Italian television, including the weekly science magazine “Quark”.
He has produced and hosted many popular series, such as “The Marvellous Machine” (a journey inside the human body) and “The Planet of the Dinosaurs”, both of which have been shown in more than 40 countries. He has written numerous books on a variety of subjects, including astronomy, biology, psychology and economics, and he has received two honorary doctorates from Italian universities in natural and biological sciences.
