Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks: a new image – 2 Apr. 2024
After two weeks of cloudy weather, we spotted comet 12P/Pons-Brooks again, now that is it slowing leaving the northern sky. See our image below.
The image above comes from the sigma clipping combination of 7, 120-second unfiltered exposures, taken with the ARTEC250+Paramount ME+C3Pro61000EC robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project facility in Manciano, Italy. The images were collected under less-than-ideal conditions: poor transparency (clouds), comet very low (12 deg.), twilight. A few art-sat trails are also visible.
Details in the tail are mind blowing: comet 12P/Pons-Brooks is really performing at its best.
