Near-Earth Asteroid 2026 JH2 extremely close encounter: an amazing live experience
Last night, we shared in real-time images of asteroid 2026 JH2, while it was having an extremely close, but safe encounter with our planet. Tens of thousands of people joined us from all over the world.
What a night, the last one! We had scheduled a live observing session to show the near-Earth Asteroid 2026 JH2 while it was almost at the minimum distance for our planet, getting a huge attention from the international media. Thousands of people were waiting for us to go live!
And, of course, Murphy was not sleeping: minutes before the start of the event, clouds started to cover the sky. Despite that, we decided to go, as the asteroid was pretty bright, likely visible through the thin layers of clouds. And we won!
The object was beautifully visibile and, image after image, it was possible to see its fast motion across the stars. The image below shows how much it was moving in just two minutes!
Those of you who missed the feed can find it below.
Looking forward to share the cosmos with our community again, keep looking up!
